The history of Chopard
The history of Chopard dates back to 1860, when Louis-Ulysse Chopard, a young Swiss watchmaker, founded a workshop in Sonvilier, Switzerland. Chopard quickly gained a reputation for producing high-quality watches, and his timepieces were soon being worn by royalty and celebrities alike.
In 1915, Louis-Ulysse Chopard passed away, and the company was taken over by his son, Paul-André Chopard. Under Paul-André's leadership, Chopard continued to thrive, and the company expanded its product line to include jewelry.
In 1963, Chopard was acquired by Karl Scheufele III, a German goldsmith and watchmaker. The Scheufele family remains the owners of Chopard today, and they have continued to build on the company's legacy of excellence.
